Info | As a life long resident of Missouri Matt Simmons has seen what can be achieved when our government is working for the people. Matt has lived in the greater St. Louis area for 38 years relocating with his wife Monique and daughter Emily to O’Fallon six years ago. Matt is a third generation pipefitter, his father worked at Anheuser-Busch for 30 years while his mother stayed home and raised children.
Matt graduated from Hazelwood East High School and attended St. Louis Community College, Central Missouri State, and Ranken Technical College. He completed a five-year apprenticeship program with Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 562, an organization that he has been an active member of for more than 19 years.
After moving to O’Fallon Matt was appointed by the former Mayor to be Chairman of the O’Fallon Traffic Commission. He was also elected in 2008 to the St. Charles County Ambulance District #5 Board where he currently serves as the Chairman. Matt has seen what eight years of poor representation has done to the people of the 19th House District.
During Matt’s time as a member of the Hazelwood School Board he was able to see the effect that a quality education can have in a child’s life. With a daughter attending Ft. Zumwalt High School and a wife who teaches kindergarten in Wentzville Matt understands the need to ensure that Missouri’s children are allowed the opportunity to receive a world class education. Matt also understands that we need to bring change to troubled economy; too many working Missourians are losing their jobs and watching their homes go into foreclosure. Missouri’s economy must be our number one priority. As a working Missourian himself, Matt looks forward to helping Governor Jay Nixon create more quality jobs, provide more Missourians with access to quality healthcare, and ensure that our children have the opportunity to receive a world class education. As your State Representative, Matt will help move Missouri forward and improve the quality of life for the people of the 19th House District.
Matt and his family are members of Immaculate Conception Parish of Dardenne.
