Info | Sue Rezin and her family’s journey is a classic example of the American Dream. Sue grew up on a small family farm where her father, Ken Schipper, farmed a modest 200 acres. Sue’s mother, Donna, drove a school bus until Sue was in junior high school and her mother went back to college and became a teacher.
Despite a late start due to raising a family, Sue’s mother went on to become a school principal and later, after attending night school, she became a superintendent. In the early 1980s, Sue remembers her mother typing a long application as part of the nationwide competition to become the first teacher to be an astronaut on the space shuttle.
Keith Rezin and Sue met while attending Augustana College and have been married for 34 years. Sue and Keith both paid their own way through college.
Keith went on to become an orthopedic surgeon and leads a successful medical practice in Morris, IL. Keith’s father was a carpenter and one of his brothers became an electrical engineer and started what became the fastest growing company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. His other brother went on to become the CEO of a company.
As a graduate of Augustana College, Senator Rezin earned a degree in International Business and Political Science with a minor in Hispanic Studies. For nearly two decades, she has been the co-owner and manager of her family’s real estate company.
Senator Rezin is also a graduate of Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government program.
Together, Sue and Keith have four adult children.
Sue Rezin’s family success story was made possible by education and hard work along with bountiful opportunities for the middle-class in our country. Those opportunities are now under threat from both misguided domestic policies and tough international challenges.
In 2010, Sue Rezin challenged one of Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan’s incumbent Democrat State Representatives, Careen Gordon, and defeated her in order to advocate for the middle-class way of life that has benefited her family so much. That is exactly why State Senator Sue Rezin is now challenging one of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s incumbent Democrats— Lauren Underwood for US Congress.
