InfoBrendan has served as the Member of Parliament for Argyll and Bute in 2015 and was until the General Election was called, the Scottish National Party’s spokesperson for Foreign Affairs at Westminster and was a member of the House of Commons’ Foreign Affairs Select Committee.

Prior to that he was party’s Chief Whip at Westminster having previously been the SNP spokesperson on both Defence and on Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.Before becoming an MP, he worked for almost two decades as television producer/director and worked for STV, SKY SPORTS and the BBC, before setting up his own independent television production company.Although Brendan and his family have lived in Argyll & Bute for more than 20 years, he was born in the east-end Glasgow and attended St. Andrew’s Secondary School in Carntyne. After school he worked in Glasgow District Council’s Housing Department before enrolling at the University of Strathclyde University from where he graduated with an honours degree in Economic and Social History and Modern History.
