Info | Dean Murray is a candidate for the 3rd Assembly District which includes Bellport, Blue Point, Brookhaven Hamlet, Coram, Farmingville, Gordon Heights, Holtsville, Medford, Middle Island, Patchogue, and parts of, Mastic, Selden, Shirley and Yaphank.
With Suffolk County homeowners paying the 12th highest property taxes in the nation, Dean believes we need to cut out-of-control property taxes now and cap future increases. He wants to rein in wasteful state spending and reform state government so it starts working for the people and not the special interests.
Dean Murray is not just another politician. Dean is a successful small businessman who understands what it takes to create jobs and provide healthcare and retirement for hard-working people. That’s why as Assemblyman, Dean will champion common sense, bi-partisan solutions to cut job-killing taxes to make it easier for Long Islanders to live, work and raise their families.
Since 1997, Dean has owned a Long Island-based advertising agency, D & S Advertising Inc, which publishes the Long Island Job Finder, Long Island Apartment & Rental Finder, Long Island Real Estate Finder, and the Long Island Fugitive Finder magazines and websites. Through these publications, Dean’s built a successful business that employs Suffolk County residents and has helped scores of Long Islanders find good jobs and homes to call their own.
Through the Long Island Fugitive Finder, which is distributed free of charge to the public across Long Island, Dean has helped to successfully apprehend 231 dangerous criminals to date.
Previously, Dean was a regional sales manager and advertising sales representative covering the Tri-State area for TCI Cable.
Prior to Dean’s career in advertising and publishing, he worked for a decade in the radio and television news industry throughout New York, Delaware, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. During that time, Dean covered the Pennsylvania State Capital for over 100 radio stations and spent five years on the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Associated Press.
Dean has been an active community leader in Suffolk County volunteering for numerous organizations including serving on the Suffolk County Workforce Investment Board, Hauppauge Industrial Association, being a member of several Chambers of Commerce, serving as a member of the Suffolk County Police Reserves, and doing play-by-play radio broadcasts for high school football games on WALK-AM.
Dean isn’t the only one in his family that has made service to community and country a calling., His son, Anthony, who currently serves in the Air National Guard, has already completed a tour of duty in Iraq and recently shipped out for a tour of duty in Afghanistan.
Dean Murray was born just outside of Washington D.C., and graduated from the Broadcast Institute of Maryland with honors.
Dean is a resident of East Patchogue.
