Jason Plummer is a native of Edwardsville, Illinois and is a proud graduate of Edwardsville High School. Jason has worked in some capacity for his family business, R.P . Lumber , since he was five years old, quickly learning the values of hard work and responsibility.
Jason attended the University of Illinois, earning a degree in Finance and was Vice President of the student body. While in Champaign, Jason led the student opposition to the public funding of a speech by former Weather Underground member Bill Ayres, earning him support and accolades from conservative leaders throughout America.
Even before graduation, Jason started his first company, a wireless Internet company that provides rural broadband access to several counties in downstate Illinois.
Always interested in politics, Jason has served internships with US Senator Peter Fitzgerald and in Washington DC with the Heritage Foundation, the renowned conservative public policy research institute that focuses on principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedoms, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.
Jason returned home to work again in the family business. Serving as Vice President for Corporate Development, Jason has worked directly in economic development initiatives in several areas of downstate Illinois, concentrating in property acquisition, commercial property management, light industrial expansion, warehousing, and residential subdivision development.
In his most recent project, he’ s worked to develop a hotel, revitalized a retail shopping center , and brought a new R.P . Lumber to Lincoln, IL, creating new jobs. His economic development experience includes intensive work on projects in Greenville, Champaign, Bloomington, Springfield, DeKalb, and Peoria, as well as work in the 43 R.P . Lumber locations throughout Illinois.
Jason is past chairman of the Madison County Republican party and serves on the board of the Illinois Lumber and Material Dealers Association. In his spare time, he coaches youth sports at First Baptist Church of Maryville.
