| Info | George Moretz is president of the Moretz Foundation in Hickory. He is a 1964 graduate of N.C. State University. He joined Carolina Mills Inc. in 1964 and was named chairman of the board of that company in 2002. He is a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hickory and the Newton Conover Rotary Club. He volunteers with the Piedmont Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the YMCA of the Catawba Valley. He previously served on the L-R Board of Trustees from 1993-2002. He also serves on the Business Council Board of Directors and the Mauney-Schaeffer Campaign Committee. He chairs the Trustee Committee on Promotion and Development.
He is married to the former Carolyn Shoaf and has three children: Sloane Woltz, 36, of Greensboro; Ashley Moretz, 33, of Almaty, Kazakhstan; and Drew Moretz, 30, of Raleigh, N.C.; and a grandson, George Ruffin Moretz, 1 month.
