In the 1997 Storting election, the Cross Political Representatives won one of the seats from Nordland. The representative, Steinar Bastesen, left the list in 1999 to create the Coastal Party. After being excluded from the Coastal Party in 2008, Bastesen decided to run for the Cross Political Representatives list again in the 2009 election.
