InfoCouncilwoman Cloud is honored to have the privilege and opportunity to serve this community and will work to serve Ward 8 to the best of her ability. She pledges to work toward the elimination of vacant and abandoned properties through focusing on foreclosure prevention, detection of at risk properties, maintenance and blight elimination and positive redevelopment. She also intends to nurture relationships with the police, community organizations and residents to create and maintain partnerships to fight crime in our neighborhoods. She hopes to spur growth and stability by building a healthy, safe and comfortable community for all her residents.

Before serving on Cleveland City Council, Councilwoman Cloud was the Executive Director of Cleveland-based Sankofa Fine Art Plus, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the education, preservation and distribution of fine ethnic art. She helped spearhead the arts group’s novel “Women Cookin’ for the Arts” fundraiser, a first-ever event that attracted hundreds of guests, celebrity chefs and judges. Councilwoman Cloud also worked hard to continue the tradition of excellent programming established by Sankofa, including its popular annual spring Cleveland Fine Art Expo at Cuyahoga Community College, youth art programs, private exhibitions, shows and artist development workshops, with an emphasis on the visual arts. Prior to working at Sankofa Fine Art Plus, Councilwoman Cloud worked as a Community Organizer and Outreach Specialist with Glenville Development Corporation where she worked hard to provide residents with programming and services to improve their quality of life. At Glenville Development Corporation, Councilwoman Cloud headed fundraising initiatives that included the capital campaign for the construction of the Glenville Hall of Fame project. During her tenure at U.S Bank, Councilwoman Cloud was a business banking officer where she provided technical assistance and business capital financing for small businesses.

Councilwoman Cloud brings more than 20 years of experience to city council in community outreach and small business development among other assets. She intends to continue to build upon the foundation that was laid by her predecessor and to strive toward making the neighborhoods in Ward 8 premiere places to live, work, worship and play by focusing on housing, safety and jobs.
