Info | Councilman Stuart Benson was elected to the first Louisville/Jefferson County Metro Council in November 2002 and reelected in November 2004. He is a member of the Transportation/Public Works, Health and Human Services and Community Affairs.
Councilman Benson was a teacher of machine tool technology at Southern High School. He is a graduate of Ahrens Trade High School, the General Electric Tool and Die Apprenticeship Program, and he holds an associate’s degree in vocational education from Murray State University.
His civic involvement includes serving as a volunteer with the Tyler Rural Settlement Task Force and the Association of Chenoweth Run Environmentalists.
He is a member of the South Jefferson Republican Club and is an associate member of the Southeast Republican Women’s Club.
He is married and has five children: Laura, Stacie, Amanda, Trisha and Tamara. He and his wife attend Southeast Christian Church.
As District 20 Councilman, Stuart Benson represents the suburban cities of Jeffersontown, Fisherville, Fern Creek and a portion of Douglass Hills. In addition, he serves the neighborhoods of Ashley Place, Billtown Farms, Bristol Oaks, Canterbrook Farms, Charlane Heights, Chenoweth Hills, Deer Park, Derbyshire, Dove Point, Dunbar Springs, Ellingsworth, Fairmount, Fern Creek, Fisherville Woods, Glenmary, Grenden Fields, Hill Ridge, Home Lawn Trail, Homestead Trace, Hurstbourne Woods, Lake of the Woods, Landherr, Little Springs Farm, Livingston Heights, Midway Farms, Monticello Place, Pine Valley, Plum Creek, Ramblin Creek, Saratoga Woods, Silver Oaks, Spring Lake Farms, SpringView, St. Edwards Place, Stone Lakes, Sunny Slopes, Tucker Lake Estates, Tyler Woods, Vantage Point, Watterson Woods, Wilderness Estates, Wooded Lake & Woods of Fox Creek.
