InfoWhen choosing a candidate for school board the first thing you want is perspective. I am the only candidate in this race who has spent time teaching classes to elementary and high school aged students, and currently is a successful school administrator. In the past, I have developed and delivered curriculum to the audience our teachers face every day. Understanding the unique viewpoint of the individuals who teach our community’s children and guide them along the path of their education is what prepares me for this opportunity to serve on the school board.

On a daily basis I encounter the same budgetary constraints our administrators do in building quality programs with limited resources. Currently, I serve as the Chief Information Officer for ACCEL, a non-profit institution focused on the education of children with special needs. My experience in working with the families of special needs children who struggle to make sure that their children are receiving appropriate and meaningful education gives me yet another unique perspective to draw from while serving.

My plan for Madison School District is simple, we need to:

Increase usable technology in classrooms
Find room in the budget for increased teacher pay
Increase our focus on Gifted and Special Education
Expand the visibility and raise awareness of Madison School District
Increase the standards in Madison classrooms to compete with students on a global level

Madison is a good school district, but good is not going to cut it when our students need to be equipped to compete with other students on a global level. If we take a strong move in making our students prepared for the world ahead now, the investment in our future is sure to pay off.

With a heart that yearns to help the people of our community build a foundation for learning we can depend on, I ask for your vote this November.
