InfoRosemary Frei is a long-time environmentalist, business owner and journalist. She first became active in the environmental movement in the 1980s as a board member of the Sierra Club in Calgary, Alberta. Most recently she has been a donor to the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society/The Wildlands League, and is the CEO of the Green Party of Canada's riding association in York Centre.

Rosemary received a BSc in agriculture from the University of Alberta in Edmonton in 1984 and an MSc in molecular biology from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary in 1988. During the early 1990s she was a member of the University of Calgary's Animal Care Committee and of a committee examining the feasibility of broadening the scope of environmental studies at the university.

Rosemary has been a full-time medical writer in Toronto since 1994, and her articles appear regularly in newspapers for physicians and other healthcare professionals in Canada and the United States. She also is the medical editor for the Canadian Thoracic Society's clinical guidelines on pediatric and adult asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She has been a judge for the National Newspaper Awards and the Canadian Science Writers' Association journalism awards, and is bilingual.

Rosemary was a founding member and served on the board of Ve'ahavta: The Jewish Humanitarian and Relief Committee, and has served on the boards of Nishma (an Orthodox Jewish think tank) and of the Canadian Science Writers' Association (CSWA). She is currently a member of the Toronto Renewable Energy Cooperative/WindShare and won the Big Sister of the Year - Group Program award in 2007 from Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Toronto. She also volunteers with the Ontario Music Centre/Canadian Amateur Musicians-Musiciens Amateurs Canadiens and the Action Committee of the Jewish Environmental Network. She lives in her house in the riding of York Centre with her cat Ketzel.
