| Info | Nick von Stein was born in Hamilton, Ohio and was raised in Fairfield, where he attended public schools throughout his early education. Nick’s father worked as a fast-food manager and his mother a telephone operator for Cincinnati Bell. Their hardworking, middle class occupations and the lifestyle they would provide became the basis for Nick’s foundation as a political actor – someone who seeks to serve the working/middle class and ensure their betterment.
After high school, Nick enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving the majority of his tour at Yokota Air Force Base, Japan, where he worked as a Structural Mechanic on C-130 aircraft. Nick was honorably discharged in 2002, and moved back to Cincinnati to attend the University of Cincinnati.
In 2005, Nick graduated with his B.A. in Political Science from U.C., earning cum laude from the university and honors within the Political Science Department. In the summer/fall of 2005, Nick served as a field intern with the David Pepper for Mayor Campaign, gaining his first experience with the day-to-day process of being a candidate and running a political campaign. In 2006, Nick sought to expand his knowledge, working as a field organizer for America Votes Ohio - a coalition of some of the largest membership based progressive organizations in the State of Ohio, including the AFL-CIO, SEIU, and Sierra Club. Through this position in Southwest Ohio, Nick was able to develop intimate relationships with local labor groups, activists, grass-roots organizations, and local leaders. Nick is determined to expand on the successes of the 2006 election and bring about much needed change here in Southwest Ohio and the United States.
Nick is committed to taking on the conventional establishment that will attempt to stifle change after the election in 2008. Nick is currently working on his Masters in Political Science at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where he also works as a Teacher’s Assistant.
Nick von Stein is married to his wife Summer, a Social Worker in Cincinnati, who fights injustice on a daily basis. Summer and Nick have been married for eight years. They are the proud parents of 8-year-old daughter, Payton, and 4-year-old son, Jonas.
