InfoHi - I’m Sean Ryan. I was born and raised in Boston. I am the eldest son of the late James Ryan , a physician at BU Medical Center; and Marilyn Morrissey, a registered nurse working in the Boston Public Schools. I am a classically-trained orchestral conductor and pianist, a political organizer, and a self-taught economist of the Austrian School. I grew up in Jamaica Plain, attended the Boston Public Schools for grades K1 – 12, and am a proud graduate of the Trotter, Hennigan, King, and Latin schools. I hold a masters degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a BA from Harvard University. In addition to being a musician, I have worked as a mailman, water meter installer, church organist, pedicab driver, and orchestra manager. I currently work as an ARAMARK hot dog vendor at Fenway Park, and I am therefore a dues-paying member of UNITE HERE, Local 26 . I am on hiatus from music, and am working to help turn back an accelerating march toward tyranny and unfreedom in America, in both the personal and economic spheres.

I have been involved in the “End the Fed” movement, a nation-wide effort to raise awareness about the Federal Reserve System – a largely unaccountable “fourth branch” of the U.S. government whose policies are the root cause of our country’s recent economic problems. Last summer, I wrote a pamphlet about monetary reform and performed a solo motorcycle protest ride to each of the twelve Federal Reserve Banks. Last fall, I ran in the Democratic primary for an open congressional seat in Ohio, and ended my campaign with a 3-day hunger strike outside the Cleveland Federal Reserve. I am now a coordinator for the Campaign for Liberty , a non-profit group whose mission is to advocate for sound money, individual liberty, and other principles set forth in the U.S. Constitution. I am currently working to establish a local currency for Boston – an alternative to the Federal Reserve Note that will be locally-controlled, backed by an intrinsically valuable commodity, and impervious to the plans of politicians and bankers.

I am focusing on five issues in my run for city council: schools, housing, transportation, safety, and jobs . I will put forth common-sense solutions to some of the problems Bostonians face in these areas. I will also be honest when I feel that the solution to a particular problem does not lie within the proper scope of government activity. I will not hesitate to point the finger, in instances when government’s existing involvement in our affairs has led to a lower quality of life for Boston residents. We are taking part in an extraordinarily difficult time in American history, one in which our Federal and state governments have already shown themselves to be inept and lacking in both money and ideas. It is time that Boston reclaimed its title as an epicenter of liberty and innovation. Let’s work together to make Boston the shining city on a hill that our ancestors envisioned. Let’s put a stop to politics-as-usual, unaccountable interest-group influence, and inter-neighborhood struggles. Let’s make Boston a peaceful and prosperous place to live.
