Info | CONRY, Michael Francis, a Representative from New York; born in Shenandoah, Schuylkill County, Pa., April 2, 1870; employed in the coal mines until crippled for life; attended the public schools; engaged in teaching for seven years; was graduated from the law department of the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in 1896; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Scranton, Pa.; unsuccessful candidate for election in 1900 to the Fifty-seventh Congress; moved to New York City and resumed the practice of law; served two years as assistant corporation counsel of the city of New York; elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-first and to the three succeeding Congresses and served from March 4, 1909, until his death; had been reelected to the Sixty-fifth Congress; died in Washington, D.C., March 2, 1917; interment in Calvary Cemetery, New York City.
