Candidate for US Senate (SW-NY) 1968. Ferguson was the only black candidate for US Senate in 1968. He was convicted of conspiring to murder moderate black political leaders and sentenced during the campaign to 3.5 to 7 years of jail time. Ferguson produced an education programme for black students involving saluting a special flag and training how to use military weapons.
