Info | Rep. Susan Allen, a Republican, represents part of St. Louis County, including the cities of Manchester, Town & Country and Country Life Acres (District 92) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
In addition to her legislative duties, Rep. Allen is the co-owner of First Steps Pediatrics, LLC; a home care therapy company. During her 25 years as a pediatric physical therapist, Rep. Allen worked in a variety of clinical settings including an orthopedic clinic, a pain clinic, school-based services at St. Louis Special School District, contract services for St. Louis Public Schools, numerous early intervention programs, and geriatrics. She also has worked as a coordinator for a variety of clinic and home-based pediatric programs and as a clinical instructor for the physical therapy programs at Washington University and at St. Louis University. In addition, Rep. Allen developed and was administrator for a Physical Therapist Assistant education program in St. Louis.
Prior to her service as a legislator, Rep. Allen was involved with numerous legislative efforts in Missouri. She helped draft legislation for the PTA licensure efforts in the mid-1990’s; then continued with the legislation for CEU credentials for PT’s and PTA’s in Missouri. She also worked with former Senate President Pro Tem Michael Gibbons on Senate Bill 500 that implemented into law the Missouri First Steps Program. Rep. Allen received a Governor’s appointment and served six years on the State Interagency Coordinating Council - an advisory council to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for administration of the Missouri First Steps Program.
Rep. Allen has utilized her physical therapy skills on four medical and outreach mission trips to Nicaragua. During her time there, she developed programs for hundreds of Nicaraguan people of all ages.
A graduate of Brookfield R-3 High School, Rep. Allen received a B.S. in Physical Therapy from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She also received her M.S. (Research) in Physical Therapy in a pediatric track from Saint Louis University.
Born in Oskaloosa, Iowa and raised in Brookfield, Rep. Allen currently resides in Town and Country with her husband of almost 40 years, Mike. They are the proud parents of two children, Chris and Jeff, and three grandchildren, Taylor, Will and Grace.
