Info | PATTON, Nat, a Representative from Texas; born on a farm near Tadmor, Houston County, Tex., February 26, 1881; attended the rural schools and Sam Houston Normal School, Huntsville, Tex.; taught in the rural and high schools 1899-1918; also engaged in agricultural pursuits at Belott, Houston County, Tex., in 1915 and 1916; member of the State house of representatives in 1912 and 1913; attended the law department of the University of Texas at Austin; was admitted to the bar in 1918 and commenced practice in Crockett, Houston County, Tex.; served as county judge of Houston County, Tex., 1918-1922; member of the State senate 1929-1934; delegate to the Democratic State conventions in 1924 and 1935; during the First World War enlisted in the United States Army on November 1, 1918, but was never sworn in due to the armistice being signed; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-fourth and to the four succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1935-January 3, 1945); unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1944; resumed the practice of law; died in Crockett, Tex., July 27, 1957; interment in Evergreen Memorial Park.
