InfoCouncilmember Jack Sammons, a native Memphian, was reelected to the City Council in October 1999. He previously served eight years on the City Council as District 5 Representative and served as Chairman in 1993. He was educated at Christian Brothers High School, the University of Alabama and the University of Memphis, where he received his B.B.A. He is President of The Sammons Group, LLC, and a Partner of Sammons-Hooper, LLC. Active in community affairs, Mr. Sammons has served on the boards of the Memphis Zoo, Mid-South Coliseum, Associated Catholic Charities, Memphis in May, and the advisory board to the Memphis and Shelby County Sports Authority, and as former president of the Memphis Symphony Third Tier. He serves on the National Alumni Board of Directors for the University of Memphis, the Board of Directors of the Memphis Fire Museum, and is a board member of the Hedgemoor Neighborhood Association. Councilman Sammons serves as the City Council's liaison to the Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Sammons and his wife, Jennifer, are the proud parents of two children: Jack, Jr., and Neely and he is a communicant of Immaculate Conception Cathedral.
