| Info | Al Brown, Assistant Business Manager of the IBEW (Electrical Workers Union) was nominated to represent Alberta's NDP for Calgary Elbow in May 2007.
Brown is the manager responsible for membership development, a task that sees him working with average families across the province. He was previously an organizer with the IBEW before taking on his current position.
For a number of years Brown worked as a Journeyman Electrician and he served as a steward on numerous job sites.
Brown is a well respected member of his union, having been asked to be a keynote speaker at conventions and a participant at the George Meaney National Labour College in Siversprings Maryland.
In his earlier years he was a rancher raising sheep and hogs in Innisfail after growing up in Calgary.
Brown is currently the President of his Condominium organization. A former minor hockey coach, Brown enjoys fishing, sailing, horseback riding and traveling with his wife Mary Ann in their RV. They have 3 grown children and 6 grandchildren.
