Info | John Roach was born and raised in Frankfort, Kentucky. He graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law with high distinction and received his undergraduate degree from Washington & Lee University. While in law school, he served as Articles Editor of the Kentucky Law Journal, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. After graduation from law school, Roach served as a law clerk for the Honorable Pierce Lively, Senior Judge, United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Upon completion of the clerkship, Roach moved to Washington, D.C. and was an attorney with Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, LLP. He returned to Kentucky in 1995 and was a partner in the law firm of Ransdell, Roach & Wier, PLLC in Lexington, Kentucky from 1996 until 2001 where his practice focused on employment discrimination, commercial litigation and corporate transactions. In addition to a vigorous trial practice, Roach has argued cases before the Kentucky Supreme Court, the Kentucky Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Before his appointment to the Kentucky Supreme Court on June 10, 2005 by Governor Ernie Fletcher, Roach served as General Counsel to Governor Fletcher.
Roach lives in Lexington with his wife, Maria, and their two children, Catherine and Bennett
