| Info | Garris ran for East Stroudsburg mayor in a three-way Republican primary in 1993, emerged victorious, then won the November general election. He served four years.
He was a borough councilman from 1985-89. Before that, he served 10 years on the borough planning commission.
He is a manufacturer's representative, selling industrial and commercial products including water heaters. The former Patterson-Kelley Co. employee currently owns and rents several residential properties in East Stroudsburg.
Garris graduated from East Stroudsburg High School and what is now East Stroudsburg University. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956-60.
He was a board member for the Pocono Mountain Chamber of Commerce from 1971-77.
He devoted several years, starting in 1983, serving on the boards of Pocono Medical Center and the hospital's sister organization, Pocono Health Systems since merged. He was chairman of the East Stroudsburg hospital board from 1988-92 and also was chairman of the health systems board for three years.
He serves on the Brodhead Creek Regional Authority and was just named to the Smithfield Township Sewer Authority.
