Info | BAILEY, Ralph Emerson, a Representative from Missouri; born in Cainsville, Harrison County, Mo., July 14, 1878; moved to Illinois with his parents, who settled in Benton, Franklin County, in 1880; attended the graded and high schools at Benton; moved to Bloomfield, Stoddard County, Mo., in 1897; was graduated from the Southeast Missouri Teachers’ College at Cape Girardeau in 1901; afterwards took a special course in the University of Missouri at Columbia; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1907 and commenced practice in Bloomfield, Mo.; moved to Sikeston, Scott County, Mo., in 1910 and continued the practice of law; city attorney 1912-1914 and again 1918-1922; served as a member of the board of regents of the Southeast Missouri Teachers’ College; elected as a Republican to the Sixty-ninth Congress (March 4, 1925-March 3, 1927); was not a candidate for renomination in 1926 to the Seventieth Congress; resumed the practice of law in Sikeston, Mo.; died in Cape Girardeau, Mo., April 8, 1948; interment in the City Cemetery, Sikeston, Mo
