Info | KEE, John, (husband of Maude Elizabeth Kee, father of James Kee), a Representative from West Virginia; born in Glenville, Gilmer County, W.Va., August 22, 1874; attended the public schools, Glenville (W.Va.) State Normal School, and West Virginia University at Morgantown; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1897 and commenced practice in Glenville, W.Va.; with South Penn Oil Co. 1900-1902; served as counsel for the Virginia Railway Co. 1902-1910; moved to Bluefield, Mercer County, W.Va., in 1910 and continued the practice of law; engaged in special legal work in Mexico 1916-1918; returned to Bluefield, W.Va., in 1918 and resumed the practice of law; member of the West Virginia state senate 1923-1927; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third and to the nine succeeding Congresses and served until his death on May 8, 1951 (March 4, 1933-May 8, 1951); chairman, Committee on Foreign Affairs (Eighty-first and Eighty-second Congresses); died on May 8, 1951, in Washington, D.C.; interment in Monte Vista Cemetery, Bluefield, W.Va.
