InfoWOOD, Reuben Terrell, a Representative from Missouri; born on a farm near Springfield, Greene County, Mo., August 7, 1884; attended the public schools and received private instructions; apprenticed as a cigar maker in Springfield, Mo., in 1898; employed as a labor organization officer 1902-1912; served as president of the Missouri State Federation of Labor 1912-1932; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third and to the three succeeding Congresses and served from March 4, 1933, to January 3, 1941; chairman, Committee on War Claims (Seventy-sixth Congress); was an unsuccessful candidate for election in 1940 to the Seventy-seventh Congress; resumed office as president of the Missouri State Federation of Labor until his retirement in May 1953; member of the Missouri Constitutional convention in 1944; died in Springfield, Mo., July 16, 1955; interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
