Andrews for the term ending January 3, 1947; elected for the full term in 1946, reelected in 1952, 1958, and again in 1964 and served from September 25, 1946, to January 2, 1971; was not a candidate for reelection in 1970; sponsor of the twenty-fourth amendment to the Constitution outlawing the poll tax in federal elections; retired and resided in Bartow, Fla., where he died November 6, 1971; interment in Wildwood Cemetery.
