| Info | Mayor of Saint–Roch-de-l’Achigan since 2005, Yves Prud’homme has a wide range of union experience. His involvement began during pedagogical studies, as secretary of the Fédération étudiante des Maîtres du Québec, in the Eastern Townships from 1968 to 1969. His union career began in the police profession in 1978 when he became shop steward for district 52 of the Fraternité des policiers et policières de la Communauté urbaine de Montréal (FPCUM), then as disciplinary manager for the FPCUM, president of the Fraternité, and from 1998 to 2005 president of the Fédération des policiers et policières municipaux du Québec (FPMQ). In May 2002, he was awarded the Ordre du mérite des corps policiers for his service in police unions.
As spokesperson for the Fédération, he defended the interests of municipal police officers across Quebec and ensured professional and qualitative representation in all affairs affecting members.
