Info | Lindy Kasperski was elected as the NDP MLA for Regina Sherwood in 1995, and was reelected in 1999.
A highly-publicized criminal charge was laid against Kasperski in May 2001 relating to business activities in 1991. Even though he was acquitted in June 2003, four challengers (Jason Nystrom, Keith Scheinous, Metro Demchynski and eventual winner Sandra Morin) announced their intention to contest the NDP nomination in the re-organized constituency of Regina Walsh Acres during July and August. Kasperski withdrew as a candidate before the nomination meeting and resigned from the NDP caucus and the New Democratic Party.
He ran unsuccessfully as an Independent in the general election held in November.
In February 2004, Kasperski announced his candidacy for the Liberal Party of Canada in the federal riding of Regina-Lumsden-Lake Centre. The nomination was contested by six other candidates: Perry Daschuk, Mike Huber, Wayne MacKay, Hem Juttla, Blair Herbert and Gary Anderson. Anderson won the nomination.
