Info | Harry Van Mulligen was first elected as a Member of the Sask Legislature in 1986. He was re-elected in 1991, 1995, 1999 and again in 2003 representing the constituency of Regina Douglas Park. As an MLA, Harry served on various committees, including Chair of Public Accounts Committee, Chair of the Crown Corporations Committee, and Chair of the Government Fiscal Policy and Government Relations Committee. He also served as Deputy Speaker from 1991 to 1996.
Harry holds a degree in Social Work from the University of Regina, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brandon University. Harry has an active background in local government and community service. He served six years on Regina City Council, during which time he chaired the Public Works and Utilities, Finance, Board of Health, and Social Planning Committees. He has also served as a Regina General Hospital governor, and as a member on the Board of Regina’s Market Square.
On February 3, 2006 Harry was appointed Minister of Government Relations. He previously served as Minister of Finance, Minister Responsible for SaskEnergy, Government House Leader, Minister of Social Services, Minister Responsible for Disability Issues, and for Seniors. He has also served the Legislature as Chair of the Public Accounts Committee and as Chair of the Crown Corporations Committee.
Harry was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada with his parents at age 9. He was raised and educated in Brandon, Manitoba, and moved to Saskatchewan in 1974. Harry currently resides with his family in Regina.
