InfoHelen MacDonald was born in St. Eleanors, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Marjorie Mills. She attended school at St. Eleanors, Summerside High School and Athena High School.

Mrs. MacDonald was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in April 2000 and was re-elected during the September, 2003 general election. She is Chair of the Standing Committee on Privileges, Rules and Private Bills, serves as a member on the Standing Committee on Community Affairs and Economic Development, the Special Committee on Climate Change and the Strategic Planning Committee on Social Policy.

Mrs. MacDonald has served as Chair of the Special Committee on the Elections Act, was a member of the Treasury Board, and the Strategic Planning Committee on Economic Policy.

She grew up on a family farm, married the late John A. MacDonald, raised three children and worked with her late husband as a full business partner. Mrs. MacDonald has also worked as an LNA at the Prince County Hospital.

Mrs. MacDonald has served as a member of the Greenfield Parent Advisory Group and as a volunteer with the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the Canadian Cancer Society. She is a member of the board of directors of the Consolidated Credit Union. As a member of St. John's Church in St. Eleanors, she serves in the choir and is a past member of the Parish Council, DCS and the Synod.

Mrs. MacDonald lives in St. Eleanors and has three children: Sean, Michelle and Andrew.
