InfoJohn Thrasher was born in McAlester, Oklahoma and soon after moved with his family to Southern California where he spent his childhood. While in high school, John's family moved to Prescott. John graduated from high school and pursued his education further attending Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. John earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Music. In 1997, John received the Distinguished Alumni Award.

John launched his teaching career by returning to his high school alma mater, Prescott High School, in Prescott. John later moved to Phoenix and continued his teaching career at Cortez High School.

In 1974 John founded the Glendale Community Band, which continues today as the Arizona Winds, a premier concert band, of which John is the conductor and music director.

Five years after graduating from Northern Arizona University, John became the Director of Bands at Glendale Community College. After enjoying his hard earned success at GCC, John retired in 1999 and was awarded the Distinction of Faculty Emeritus in 2002.

With a desire to keep working post-retirement, John returned to his roots and took a position instructing elementary school bands in the Deer Valley School District, where he continues to work.

John is married to Jackie and they are so very proud of the accomplishments of their children, Jessica and Jason.

John's highlighted career as an educator has spanned 40 years and his interest in public service has not waned. As a U.S. Representative, John will stand up for and be solely influenced by all the people and voices of Congressional District 2, as opposed to the big money-special interests.
