Donahey in 1913 and served until 1929; unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States Senate in 1928; engaged in the life insurance business in Columbus, Ohio, in 1928; was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third and Seventy-fourth Congresses and served from March 4, 1933, until his death in Washington, D.C., August 9, 1935; interment in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, Ohio.
