Info | Rep. Jason Smith, a Republican, represents parts of Crawford, Dent, Phelps and Reynolds Counties (District 150) in the Missouri House of Representatives. Elected to the House in a special election in 2005, Rep. Smith serves as Majority Deputy Whip and has served on the following committees: Co-chair for the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules, Judiciary, Professional Registration & Licensing, Emerging Issues in Animal Agriculture, Rural Community Development, Department of Elementary & Secondary Education Appropriations, Agriculture Policy, Job Creation & Economic Development as Vice-Chairman
and Joint Committees on Court Automation & Legislative Research.
Representative Smith is committed to community involvement and is a member in the following organizations: National Rife Association, Salem, Steelville and Cuba Chambers of Commerce, Missouri Bar, Farm Bureau, state board member of the Missouri Community Betterment Association, past President and current board member of the Salem FFA Alumni Association, and past board member of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate). Additionally, he attends his home church, Grace Community Church of Salem, faithfully as a committed member and serves as a Sunday school teacher for the youth.
Confident in his career goals from an early age, Rep. Smith graduated from Salem High School (Salem, MO) in 1998 and went on to continue his education at Mizzou. In three years, he earned two Bachelor of Science Degrees in Agricultural Economics and Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance. In 2001, he enrolled in Oklahoma City University School of Law where he earned his Law Degree. He spent a summer studying international law at Trinity College in Cambridge, England and came back to graduate in 2004.
Rep. Smith, one of Missouri’s youngest representatives, stays busy with his legislative responsibilities. Additionally, he puts his educational background to use as an attorney, a real estate agent, and a small business owner.
Born on June 16, 1980 in St. Louis, Missouri. Rep. Smith currently resides in Salem, Missouri where he can maintain close relationships with his family and lifelong friends while managing his fourth generation family farm.
