" Bruce Kraus, 51, makes his home on Pittsburgh’s Historic South Side.
Raised along with his two brothers to have a strong work ethic through the example of his parents, Bruce has a business background as an entrepreneur and has been the sole proprietor of the Bruce A. Kraus Company, a home design and construction organization, for the past 18 years. His father Charles, worked for the Isaly Dairy Company for 49 years and his mother Deloris, a strong supporter of organized labor, has been a member of Unite Here! Local 57 for over 25 years.
Bruce is passionate about the people of Pittsburgh and his vision for their future. This drives his commitment to the many community and citywide organizations on which he serves. His efforts on behalf of residents and businesses include:
Organizing and implementing large neighborhood clean-ups
Chair of the City of Pittsburgh Graffiti Task Force, assisting city officials and neighborhood groups in their efforts to combat graffiti vandalism
Appointed by the Mayor to be a board member of the Clean Pittsburgh Commission formed to address urban blight, litter and illegal dump sites
Working to save police officers’ jobs and to keep the Zone 3 Police Station open when threatened with closure in the summer of 2003
Board member of the South Side Community Council and South Side Local Development Company
President of the South Side Chamber of Commerce
Participant in the United Way Neighborhood Leadership Program to encourage health and wellness in South Pittsburgh hilltop communities"
