InfoMike Robinson is a father, kayak guide and nature interpreter and proudly considers himself a jack-of –all-trades. He has lived, worked, volunteered and played on the West Coast for 37 of his 42 years. Currently he is a learner in the MA in Leadership and Training program (MALT) at Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC. Raised in the beautiful Victoria region, Mike developed a deep appreciation for the natural world at an early age and has spent much of his life helping people explore their relationships within the web of life. He believes wholesome and sustainable communities have an intrinsic dependency on a healthy and intact ecosystem. He intends to bring the most progressive models of transformational leadership available to Ottawa and will make certain that the collective knowledge and wisdom of the citizens of Esquimalt-Juan de Fuca will be reflected in the government’s decision-making.

Mike spent three years as the President of the Lund Community Society. His leadership led to many community initiatives including building a small park and outdoor gazebo for weddings and concerts; the design, operation and funding of an alternative school; and the fundraising of over $250,000 to pay for teacher’s salaries and infrastructure. He also served on the board of the Weyerhaeuser/Stillwater Community Advisory Group for Sustainable Forest Practices - Education Committee, and actively volunteers with Power of Hope and Inclusive Leadership Adventures, two progressive organizations that teach youth leadership and self-expression skills, along with community building and political activism.

“For too long we have relied on politicians who are unable to see the big picture. We are living in an era of specialists and special interests, but the world doesn’t work that way. We need to empower citizens who can see the big system and hold an encompassing worldview. Without a healthy environment, without social and economic justice, without participatory democracy the society we are building is a house of cards. The Green Party is the only political entity with the courage to state the facts and the vision to guide our society towards a truly sustainable future. I will work hard to represent all perspectives in a constructive manner that will help create a stronger, more cohesive and resilient community and country.”
