| Info | John and his wife Karen, 35-year residents of Wright County are partners in Deitering McDonough Tax Service in Buffalo, and have owned several successful small businesses over the years.
"Small business owners understand fiscal responsibility; we need that at the state capitol," Deitering told the Senate District central committee members who voted on endorsement in September. He continued, "We need people who can listen and work together to get things done."
Born in Bancroft, Iowa, Deitering's earliest memories, he said, are of working on the family farm with his eleven brothers and sisters. A graduate of Boys' Town in Nebraska, Deitering's experiences there have been influential in shaping his outlook.
"John understands that there are not any easy answers out there, and he's refreshingly candid about the need to reverse recent assaults on our education and health care infrastructures, the very things that make our state one of the best places in the country to live," said SD19 Chair Lorrie Adams.
The Deiterings, who live in Rockford Township near Buffalo, have two daughters and four grandchildren.
