InfoDusky Terry is a lifelong Iowan raised on his family’s dairy and grain farm in rural Greenfield. He graduated from Greenfield High School and received his bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Northern Iowa in 1997 with a minor in Environmental Studies.

Dusky joined the gubernatorial campaign of Tom Vilsack in January of 1998 in what became Vilsack’s successful bid to become Iowa’s first Democratic Governor in over thirty years. Dusky then served in the Governor’s Office as Constituent Casework Coordinator; Policy Advisor on Agriculture, Environment, and Transportation; Legislative Director; Senior Advisor to the Governor; and Policy Director. During his time in the Governor’s Office, he was instrumental in establishing the Iowa Clean Water Initiative aimed at increasing conservation and improving water quality, forming the Iowa Food Policy Council to expand local food systems, developing legislation to expand renewable energy resources including ethanol and wind energy, and creating the Iowa Values Fund – the largest economic development program in Iowa’s history.

In 2002, Dusky took a short leave of absence from the Governor’s Office to return to the Vilsack-Pederson campaign for the re-election effort. His prior work experience includes the Parks, Recreation and Preserves Division of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources; the Iowa Waste Reduction Center; and the Main Street Greenfield redevelopment organization.
