In a letter to Trudeau that was subsequently posted to her social media account, the outgoing deputy prime minister said she had no choice but to resign after Trudeau approached her Friday about moving her to another cabinet role.
"On Friday, you told me you no longer want me to serve as your Finance Minister and offered me another position in the cabinet," Freeland wrote, addressing Trudeau. "Upon reflection, I have concluded that the only honest and viable path is for me to resign from the cabinet."
Freeland also took a jab at Trudeau's handling of the country's economy, denouncing what she called the government's "costly political gimmicks" and imploring him to work collaboratively with the country's premiers to take on Trump's tariffs.
She conceded that she and Trudeau have been "at odds" in recent weeks. [Link]

Best known in Georgia for trying to split the city of Atlanta in half by having the northern section of town secede from the rest of the city. Glad he'll get a change of pace by going to the super unified country of.......Belgium.

I propose a schedule for our five End of Year races:
-December 24th at 11:59PM: nominations close
-December 25-26 at 11:59PM: nomination round of voting*
-December 27-29 at 11:59PM: first round of voting**
-December 30-January 1 at 11:59PM: final round of voting***
*Nomination Round of voting will consist of voting for candidates you believe deserve to be on the ballot. This is designed to eliminate candidates nominated just because one voter really likes/really dislikes that person. Each member gets an unlimited number of nominations; those candidates who do not receive multiple nominations will be struck from the ballot.
**First round of voting consists of each member receiving a finite number of votes. The number of votes, as well as the number of candidates that will advance to the next round, will be determined in advance by the number of nominees. However, the number of candidates that will advance to the next round should be in the single digits (around seven - one row).
***Final round of voting consists of a ranked choice voting system with the remaining candidates. Candidate with most votes wins.
Two Notes before this long post ends:
1) When adding final nominations for the three performance-based superlatives, please add a link to an article or race page that shows why that person was picked. You can also add a post.
2) The "Hot Dude" and "Hot Mama" races are light-hearted and to be construed as attempts to combat the adage that "politics is show business for ugly people", with both points reflected in past competitions. We may want to consider changing the names of these races moving forward to "Mr. OurCampaigns" and "Miss OurCampaigns" to reflect the pageant-like nature of the race.

Make sure you include a link to something that explains why they are nominated for this race. Make sure you are not nominating someone for saying something you merely disagree with, but for something that neatly fits within the bounds of idiocy, lunacy, or sheer madness.
