Senator Slotkin keeps asking him if he would use the military on Americans. Hegseth keeps dodging the question and turning to Republican talking points --- the Southern border. On the Democratic Side Reed, Shaheen, Gillibrand, Blumenthal, Hirono, Kaine, King, Peters, Warren, Duckworth, Rosen, Kelly, and Slotkin.

Tuberville Yes, the former Auburn football coach is known for his intellectual chops. Funnily enough, he would be better qualified than Hegseth for this role because he's actually led something before.

By 2031, the top Republican on Armed Services will most likely be Cotton while the top Democrat will be Gillibrand. Gillibrand could assume the top committee stop within 2 years if senators Reed and Shaheen step down in the upcoming election cycle. Cotton is waiting for Senators Wicker and Fischer to step down in 2030. It would be embarrassing for Gillibrand to led the committee one day and at this point, she's in the middle of her Senate tenure. She has no national experience.

My right-wing friend group is now mostly opposing Hegseth. Interesting to observe, but I don't think the Senate is shifting against him. I think he's going to be confirmed.
