Description |
Veteran State Sen. Kip Bateman unexpectedly announced he would forgo a tough re-election bid in a district that overwhelmingly voted for Joe Biden in 2020.
Two former Congressmen, Dick Zimmer, and Michael Pappas, appeared to be the front runners. But party leaders where unhappy with Zimmer's support of Joe Biden in the 2020 Presidential election and got him to drop out clearing the field for Pappas.
With the districts democratic leaders in disarray over who should run for the seat republicans have some hope to hold on to this seat in a politically competitive yet gerrymandered district.
