Description |
Burns, who claimed to be a member of an organisation called Worker's Army for a Welsh Republic sought election as a Civil Rights/Welsh Political Prisoner candidate. At the time of the election he was in prison on remand from Cardiff Magistrates Court on two charges relating to a bomb explosion at an Army recruitment office in Pontypridd. In December 1982 he was sent for trial at Cardiff Crown Court and the trial commenced on September 13, 1983 and lasted two months. He was found not guilty on one charge and acquitted on the other.
