BBC Constituency Profile:
Stretching from Wembley Stadium to Fryent Country Park is the seat of Brent North. Much of the constituency is made up of Metro-Land, the term coined by poet laureate Sir John Betjeman to describe the north west London suburbs created by the Metropolitan rail line.
There are a number of beautiful parks here, including: Fryent, Roe Green and Silver Jubilee Park. Over half the population is Asian/Asian British, with 32.9% Indian - the second highest proportion of all the constituencies in England and Wales, according to ONS 2011 Census figures. One in 10 is black Afro-Caribbean. At 32%, it has the highest proportion of Hindus - there is also a large community of Buddhists.
Owner-occupiers are above the London average, while a quarter of the population rents privately. In 2010, Barry Gardiner held the seat for Labour with 46.9% of the vote; Conservatives got 31.5%, Liberal Democrats 17% and Independent 1.4%.
