Description |
BBC Profile:
A Tory seat since its creation in 1950, Bournemouth West was represented by John Eden for almost 30 years. Since his retirement in 1983, the seat has been held by Sir John Butterfill. He has an 11.9% majority, but is standing down at this election.
Boundary changes will move part-wards Winton East, Alderney and Branksome East to the seat from Bournemouth East, while Eastcliff and Springbourne, Moordown, and Queen's Park part-wards move from this seat to Bournemouth East. To find out what might have happened had this boundary change been in force at the last election, see a notional - or estimated - result below.
Bournemouth blossomed in the 19th Century as a result of the Victorian love of the seaside, and is sufficiently large to warrant its division into two constituencies.
It is a fast-growing and prosperous town, with an economy based on tourism. Visitors enjoy Bournemouth's miles of beaches and traditional seaside attractions, as well as its bars and clubs.

LD 11,710 (31.98%)
