Description |
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted on May 12, 2005, to send the nomination to the floor, but withheld any recommendation for the nominee. The vote to send to the full Senate was 10-8. "All 10 Republicans voted to send the nomination to the floor and all eight Democrats voted no."- AP
Bush granted Bolton a recess appointment on August 1, 2005.
[Link] According to AP sources he was to be sworn in the same day. As this is a recess appointment his term will end on the first day of the next congress, as opposed to serving til until 2009 or later.
