The President will be elected for the first time under a new system by an election board consisting of 300 people: all members of the Parliament of Georgia (150 deputies), all members of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia (21 deputies), all members of the Supreme Council of Adjara (21 deputies) and 108 people from municipal councils.

The term of the president was also shortened to four years from the previous six.

Presidential elections are to be held within 45 days from the first session of the newly elected parliament. The first session is expected to be November 25, 2024 [Link] January 9, 2025 is the 45th day after November 25, 2024.

This is potentially a two-round election if candidate in first round fails to receive at least 180 votes.
