| Description |
The Republican district convention met in Greensboro on 7/14/1892. Delegates in the eastern end of the district had been pledged to support Amis, who had already withdrawn from the race (having been nominated to run for NC Secretary of State). Most of the Amis delegates (silver Republicans) bolted. On the congressional ballot, Settle was nominated with 13.5 votes to Amis with 0.5 and 10 delegates absent (totals rounded below).
