Governors eligible include: All current governors not up for election in 2022 Governors elected in Nov 2022 Basically all current sitting governors, and any governor who served in 2022 and might have retired or been defeated in 2022. I want to nominate DeSantis. He was re-elected in 2022.

All current sitting governors that weren't up in 2022 (Ex: Youngkin, Roy Cooper, etc.) and all governors who were elected or re-elected in 2022. so desantis can be nominated.

the ones who retired in 2022 are not eligible, so doug ducey or tom wolf are examples of former governors who cannot be nominated.

same applies to defeated. steve sisolak can't be nominated but joe lombardo can be.
