Description | Conservative party founded by businessman Boris Kollár established with the aim of "protecting families in Slovakia from threats from outside and inside." Party began as the Slovak Citizens' Party - SOSKA (2011-2015) led by a former member of the HZD, Peter Marček. Flailing as a party (SOSKA ranked 24 out of 26 in results after elections held on March 10, 2012), Marček sold his party to Boris Kollár, who renamed it the SME RODINA movement – Boris Kollár in 2015, rebranding it SME RODINA in 2019. SME RODINA managed to pick up 17 seats after parliamentary elections held in February 2020 and became Slovakia's third-largest party. Kollár was then elected chairman of the Slovak parliament, the National Council, on March 20, 2020 [SME RODINA (SR)]. |
