| Description | Center-right electoral list which became a party by merging through reorganization of the liberal New Time (Jaunais laiks, JL), the centrist Society for a different policy (Sabiedrība citai politikai, SCP) and the conservative Civil Union (Pilsoniskā savienība, PS). List began as a faction or bloc of parties formed during the term of the 10th Saeima (November 2, 2010 to October 16, 2011). Faction called itself "Vienotības" (Unity) and held 33 seats in Parliament, the largest bloc. Faction then formed itself as a party on August 6, 2011 ahead of elections to the 11th Saeima, and was joined by half a dozen smaller cooperating parties. Steadily losing seats in spite of a strong start, "Vienotība" and five allied parties joined the alliance "New Unity" (Jaunā Vienotība) before the 13th Saeima elections held on October 6, 2018. Vienotība is still an independent party within the alliance, and has been chaired by Finance Minister Arvils Ašeradens since August 19, 2017 [Vienotība (V)]. |
