| Description | The Single Tax Party was formed by people who sought to consolidate all taxation into a single payment (Henry George movement). Advocates of the idea formed communes where the theory would be tested (including Arden PA and Fairhope AL). The party ran candidates sporadically in the early twentieth century, but primarily in the years 1916--1922. The party merged into the Commonwealth Land Party in 1924. |
