Right-of-center party better known as RDP-Jama'a founded and led by Niger's former Prime Minister (from 1983 to 1988) Hamid Algabid.
Party was sublimated to serve Nigerien President Ibrahim Baré Maïnassara (January 27, 1996 – April 9, 1999) and became Niger's ruling party, until Maïnassara was assassinated on April 9, 1999. Algabid ran as the RDP-Jama'a presidential candidate later that year, taking over the party from rival Amadou Cissé, but fell to fourth place. Party has since saw its legislative presence collapse to just three seats in 2020.
Party has continued to press for an inquiry into Maïnassara's death to this day [Rassemblement pour la Démocratie et le Progrès (RDP-Jama'a)].
